My wife and I were talking about a video I found through stumbleupon that made me re-evaluate my beliefs . During that conversation, my wife had mentioned she heard Barbara Walters talking about different religious leaders she had interviewed, and was surprised when she spoke with the Dalai Lama and he responded simply that the purpose of life is to be happy.

The last 5 days of the stock market closings have been trending down and becoming worrisome. The major contributor of the stock market losses come from Banking industry taking a huge hit due to bad loans which is also contributing to the largest inventory of foreclosures in recent history. Below are the three major US indexes that I like to follow.

I just noticed a trend. Google is a super big company and is buying everything in sight. I actually enjoy using google as my primary search engine. I am just amazed at how much it is buying. It is becoming like a super monopoly. I hope it is a good thing. I think over time we will be better able to judge its purchases and its effects on its users.

It really is never productive to worry but sometimes I just can’t help it. We are inundated with so many problems on the TV news as well as our daily internet news readings, sometimes you have to wonder if it all means anything or if it is connected. I always wonder how my country America is viewed from non citizens.

I was reading Gary Conn’s last post Google better watch their back and made me remember how it was 5 years ago before they zoomed by all the other heavy hitters. Remember Yahoo, AOL, and MSN and how we use to search on those sites.

My feedstats now has bounced from 20 to 30. Yeah. This does seem to have a weird yoyo effect. I don’t think it is suppose to be like that but I am sure I will eventually figure it out like the technorati thing. It moved up again and is now up to 108.

Next week, some big banks are going to publish their financial earnings data. Many analysts already expect losses but are not sure how much. We have had many tens of thousands of people laid off in the real estate, mortgage, construction and other related fields. I personally know of a few people who were let go from the housing crisis.

I just heard that Randy the Natural Couture has resigned and quit the UFC effective immediately. That is big news only because he is the current UFC heavyweight champion. He only recently won it by beating Tim Sylvia and defended it against Gabriel Gonzaga. He came out of retirement to win the belt.
